Happy Halloween, everyone! I kept handmade elements pretty minimal this year, only making the girls' jackets and my robe. We are dressed as Thor, Thor in Endgame, Rumi and Mira (from K Pop Demon Hunters), and Spiderman. Hope everyone has a great last day of October!

K Pop Demon Hunters: Halloween Costumes
I don't think K Pop Demon Hunters has hit every area as hard as it's hit where we live, but kids here are obsessed with the movie, so it was no surprise to me when my girls wanted to dress up as characters from the movie for Halloween. Lots of different outfits are worn in … Continue reading K Pop Demon Hunters: Halloween Costumes
A Handmade Athletic Skort
Subtitle: A Very Unhelpful Guide to Making Because I let a lot of time lapse TWICE in the making of this project, and my memory is not that good! I started sewing this project last summer but my timing was terrible. Summer was coming to an end and I had very little interest in making … Continue reading A Handmade Athletic Skort
Stellan Tee 2.0
A little bit ago I was perusing French Navy's pattern catalog when I came across the pattern for the "Stellan Tee 2.0." This piqued my interest because the Stellan Tee was one of the first (maybe THE first??) t-shirt patterns I ever sewed up. I liked the original pattern pretty well, but I was interested … Continue reading Stellan Tee 2.0
Simplicity 8641: Sew House Seven Bib Jumper
I'll be honest, I've been in a bit of a sewing rut. And I believe I could pull myself out of it if I bought myself some new, fresh fabric to reignite some inspiration, but with some uncertainty on the horizon, I haven't been in the mood or mindset to spend a bunch of money … Continue reading Simplicity 8641: Sew House Seven Bib Jumper
The Sitka Sweatshirt-Three Ways
I've had a handful of posts that are outside my regular content of pattern reviews/sewing shares and more of the same in queue so I thought I'd better insert one of my more standard posts into the line up. I made a new pattern, the Sitka Sweatshirt, and I've loved it so much, I've already … Continue reading The Sitka Sweatshirt-Three Ways

My 2024 ended up being a mixed bag of triumphs and struggles and the same can be said of my sewing (always!). Here are my 5 worst and 5 best sewing projects from the year, in no particular order: Worst Makes 2024 Simplicity 9041 with fabric from SAS: Blech, I absolutely hated this dress. It … Continue reading Best/Worst Makes 2024
Things I Made but Never Posted
I never post ALL the things I make, but this year I was particularly bad at posting! I'm going to spend the next few weeks trying to catch up. In the mean time, here are some of the things I've made that I never got around to photographing and/or posting about: Christmas Pajamas: It's become … Continue reading Things I Made but Never Posted
A Special Dress for Wendy
A few weeks ago we were able to celebrate my oldest daughter's baptism. It seemed like a really great opportunity to get her something special to wear. It was no surprise that she had very exact specifications for her dress and, after a brief search online, we knew it was something best made myself, to … Continue reading A Special Dress for Wendy
Color Blocked Fulton Sweater Blazer in Boiled Wool
Oh dear, this jacket took ages to finish, from the idea of it to the making of it. And now it's still causing me grief because every time I sit down to write about it, I struggle to put words to the experience of creating it. So here's another attempt! The Fulton Sweater Blazer (from … Continue reading Color Blocked Fulton Sweater Blazer in Boiled Wool
