Happy Halloween, everyone! I kept handmade elements pretty minimal this year, only making the girls' jackets and my robe. We are dressed as Thor, Thor in Endgame, Rumi and Mira (from K Pop Demon Hunters), and Spiderman. Hope everyone has a great last day of October!

K Pop Demon Hunters: Halloween Costumes
I don't think K Pop Demon Hunters has hit every area as hard as it's hit where we live, but kids here are obsessed with the movie, so it was no surprise to me when my girls wanted to dress up as characters from the movie for Halloween. Lots of different outfits are worn in … Continue reading K Pop Demon Hunters: Halloween Costumes
A Ginger/Ash Jeans Mash
I have a confession: over the last few years, very few of my handmade bottoms have turned into something I wear regularly. Another confession: neither will these. My inspiration was pretty low for this pair of jeans. It definitely felt more like sewing for work than sewing for fun, and unfortunately the chore didn't really … Continue reading A Ginger/Ash Jeans Mash
A Handmade Athletic Skort
Subtitle: A Very Unhelpful Guide to Making Because I let a lot of time lapse TWICE in the making of this project, and my memory is not that good! I started sewing this project last summer but my timing was terrible. Summer was coming to an end and I had very little interest in making … Continue reading A Handmade Athletic Skort
Stellan Tee 2.0
A little bit ago I was perusing French Navy's pattern catalog when I came across the pattern for the "Stellan Tee 2.0." This piqued my interest because the Stellan Tee was one of the first (maybe THE first??) t-shirt patterns I ever sewed up. I liked the original pattern pretty well, but I was interested … Continue reading Stellan Tee 2.0
Simplicity 8641: Sew House Seven Bib Jumper
I'll be honest, I've been in a bit of a sewing rut. And I believe I could pull myself out of it if I bought myself some new, fresh fabric to reignite some inspiration, but with some uncertainty on the horizon, I haven't been in the mood or mindset to spend a bunch of money … Continue reading Simplicity 8641: Sew House Seven Bib Jumper
My Favorite Online Fabric Shops
With Joann closing, I've been shocked at how many people have said they may never buy fabric again because a) Joann is the only place that offers affordable fabric and/or b) because buying fabric online-without getting to FEEL the fabric-is a sham. I am here to tell you that there is hope! You can absolutely … Continue reading My Favorite Online Fabric Shops
McCall’s 8036: Front Button Wrap Dress
Welllll. My feelings for this dress have been all over the place. While making the dress, I was absolutely loving it. But when I finished it and actually wore it, I felt a lot more ambiguous about it-kind of liking it but also feeling self conscious. And then when I flipped through my pictures of … Continue reading McCall’s 8036: Front Button Wrap Dress
The Ava: Faux Wrap Top
I realized I haven't posted at all this month! So I'll try to hurry and get this out there before the month changes! This is the Ava Top from Michelle Design Co. I'll interject here to say I KNOW I was silly in making this detailed faux wrap top in black so that you can't … Continue reading The Ava: Faux Wrap Top
Bernina B475: a Sewing Machine Review from a Garment Sewist’s Perspective
This is going to be a crazy long post with a lot of pictures. You've been warned!! I've wanted to do a review about my new machine since right after I got it, but I also wanted to give a knowledgeable review instead of saying, "I've been LOVING my machine since I got it two … Continue reading Bernina B475: a Sewing Machine Review from a Garment Sewist’s Perspective
