This year, sewing has been a little bit hit or miss for me. And by “miss” I mean that it just straight up hasn’t happened! I had good intentions, but life has been bonkers. You’ll find this post much shorter than year-end-favorite posts in the past. With such a small selection of projects to choose from, I had a hard time deciding my best projects and a near impossible time deciding my worst (there were “worst” projects, trust me, it’s just that there’s no photographic evidence so they seem hardly worth mentioning), so just the faves, and just the top three. But here they are! Enjoy! And feel free to let me know what your favorite project from the year was!
Stellan Tee 2.0: I am the worst kind of sucker for t-shirt patterns, especially boxy ones and especially very cheap (and/or free) ones. This fit all those categories. The pattern was less than $3 and might just be my favorite boxy tee pattern to date. I’ve often shared my love of the Jesse Tee (which is free!). I still love the Jesse, but the Stellan 2.0 one required less in the way of fitting adjustments for me, which makes the $2.25 I spent on it feel very worth it! I love the fit of this and the color blocking here is my favorite.
Simplicity 8641 (Sew House Seven Jumper Dress): For what was kind of a throwaway project with low expectations, I ended up really loving this dress. I’m not sure I can explain it very well but it’s a dress that helps me feel like a civilized human being even though much of my life is spent running after children. Which I can do very comfortably in this dress, thankfully, but I also feel put together and like myself while doing it. It’s like a meshing of personal style and lifestyle, which is the best kind of combo.
Sawtooth Sky Quilt: Finally, I loved both the sewing and the finished product of my Sawtooth Sky Quilt. Aside from the navy background and binding, I used scraps from my quilting fabric stash and I was really happy with how the colors turned out for this one. When I finished piecing the top, I realized the color scheme made me think of my sister-in-law and, thankfully, it now resides in her home. It was such a fun project and I hope I have more quilt-making happening in 2026.
