Me Made May 2023

It’s the end of May 2023! How did everyone’s month go, me-made or not? I was glad to participate this year in MMM. It wasn’t as epic as I had maybe envisioned but I wore some good stuff, came into some great insights (one of which being that MMM is a lot less fun if you’re not on Instagram 😂) and felt like I accomplished my MMM goals!

Here are some of the outfits I wore this month (phone photos coming your way):

The first half of the month was chilly so my sweaters got some extra wear! I tried this double striped outfit and really liked it! Though after a few minutes of wearing it I remembered why I don’t wear the top: it’s off grain and the placket sneaks to a diagonal. Darn! but it’s RTW so at least I’m not to blame! {Driftless cardigan}

I wore my new Ash jeans many times and am still loving them! Enjoyed this darker neutral combo more than once this month! {Ash wide leg jeans}

I’m always amazed at how much fabric plays in to whether a garment will be worn or not. I’ve made the Union St. tee more than a dozen times but probably only half have gotten worn more than a few times (and it’s really an all or nothing thing because the half that get worn, get WORN). This is my newest Union made from a jersey from Melanated Fabrics. I couldn’t be happier with this fabric: it’s a thicker jersey that has some body and it doesn’t wrinkle! It’s been worn LOTS and is safely in the WORN category! {Union st. tee}

It’s easy for me to wear me-made dresses because that’s mostly what I own. During the winter I was loving wearing this one with a cropped sweater on top. The print is a little busier than what I normally wear but I still really love this dress. {New Look 6651}

I made this dress almost 4 years ago and have only worn it 3 or 4 times. It’s a linen with metallic threads running through it so it is shiny. But my 6 year old wanted to pick my outfit and this is what she pulled out. I was wary, but I got so many compliments on it! {Fringe dress}

This might have been one of my favorite outfits from the month. I think I tried this combo a few months ago and wasn’t into it, but this time it worked! Surely it’s seasonal. {Hacked Union and Mave skirt}

My most worn makes were definitely my Hudson pants! Pictured here is my newest pair in a lovely lilac French terry (from Raspberry Creek). I’ve made lots of Hudsons but my first pair (also made in a French terry) are my most worn and, having made them almost 4 years ago, they are looking a little worse for wear. I finished this pair at the beginning of the month and have been wearing them so much.

Some non-wearing things I did related to MMM were to do some mending, go through my closet, notice things I liked wearing vs. didn’t like wearing and try to figure out why, and just pay better attention to styles I’m attracted to. I did my blog and Pinterest perusing as normal, but tried to have a more mindful approach to things I liked and what suits me and my lifestyle. Since baby #3 I’ve struggled to figure out where my personal style sits and I think I made some really helpful realizations this month:

  1. I don’t always want to wear me-mades (and that’s okay).
  2. Sometimes I don’t like something I’ve made (and that’s okay).
  3. For me right now, basic is best (and that’s okay).

I hope everyone had a wonderful month and was able to enjoy some good weather (finally!)!
